Welcome back to another Indie Spotlight! This time we are looking at a young author who’s first book released on April 1st. The story follows a young girl named D.J. who is adjusting to life in a new town, and starting at a new school. Her first day goes well, and leads to her meeting a friendly group of girls. The real fun begins though, as she falls asleep that night after school, and something beyond her wildest imagination comes into being. So let us take a look at Ellie Collins, and her book “Daisy, Bold and Beautiful.”

Indie Spotlight: Tai Manivong

Long time no see Indie Author Lovers! Recently I was contacted by a new indie author about reading her book “Crimson” and review it. It sounded really interesting, and it had been awhile since I exposed myself to a new author, so I jumped at the chance. See my review of the first book below, and a short interview with Tai below that!

Crimson is a Norterridane, a type of dog hybrid, that lives on a continent named Genorrida. Her species is tasked with a very special job, protecting the hatchlings of Dragons that are born on Genorrida until they are old enough to rejoin their race on a different continent. Not everyone is fit to be a Dragon Keeper though, and some worry that Crimson herself will not follow in her father’s footsteps to become a keeper herself. One night though, a sound in the distance calls to a young Crimson. Even though leaving the den at night is not the best of ideas, she has to know where it is coming from.

Indie Spotlight: Ring Of Fire

Heading to Geek Girl Con this year, I had a plan to try to meet as many writers, developers, artists, and creators as possible. One of the people I met was someone that started off a bit shy, and really came out of her shell the moment we actually started talking. She handed me a book and said “Do as you wish with it, but I want you to have this.” In my hand, was placed a book with a watercolor-ish cover called “Ring of Fire.”

Late in the day of the final day at the Con I had made the decision to make her my next Indie Spotlight Author. I surprised her with this news when she decided to interview me on facebook live to her fans. So here we are…

Indie Spotlight: T.M. Franklin

As I do every year, I spent a good amount of time while at ECCC hanging around the “Writer’s Block” meeting new authors, and catching up with old favorites as well. This year, I met T.M. Franklin, who took the time to explain the array of books she had on sale. One in particular though, a 6 books in one thing, caught my attention and I couldn’t walk away without it.

Welcome to the story of Chloe, your average teenage girl, living the average teenage life. Well except the intricate front window of her house calls to her and shows her visions of the past, present, and possible future. When it shows her a vision of some type of deadly, supernatural black tornado covering an area near town, and her with other people that had powers fighting it, she starts on a mission with her best friend Miranda to find the people who were helping her to try get them to join her and train for the fight that seems inevitable. Can she convince them she’s not crazy and that they too are a part of this?

Indie Spotlight: Rebecca J Reynolds “R’etahl and Jurielle”

Welcome back to another Indie Spotlight! I have been so backed up in advanced reader copies and other books that I went a little off the rails on doing more of these. I am working on some others though and can not wait to bring them to you!

This time I read a great sci-fi romance called “R’etahl and Jurielle” which is the first in a series of books by Rebecca J Reynolds. This is the first time that I have read anything by this author, and after this book, I can promise you that it won’t be the last.

Indie Spotlight: Gretchen SB “Hollownton Homicide”

This is the first Indie Spotlight. What this series will do, is introduce you to some indie authors, their books, and have a short Q & A that I had with them at the end. There are some fantastic authors out there that are just trying to get seen, and I want to give them that chance. I also want you, as my readers, to see there is more than just the bestsellers list.

So I am learning that there are diamonds in the rough out there in the self-publishing/indie world. One of those happens to live in my own backyard, Ms. Gretchen SB. Her book “Hollownton Homicide” follows King County PD Dectective Anthony Hollownton as he investigates a string of mysterious murders in the Seattle area. Do thing that go bump in the night frighten you and just how supersticious are you? Time to find out what lurks in Gretchen’s Seattle.
